Mike Hann

Mike Hann, a product of Vancouver Island's enchanting landscapes, leads a life brimming with diverse passions and thrilling adventures.

Born into a musical family, Mike's upbringing was steeped in rhythm and melody, as the son of acclaimed children's entertainer and folk musician Paul Hann. Despite his early exposure to to the world of music, Mike's own journey as a songwriter didn't start until the age of 23, catalyzed by an accident that redirected his course from rugby fields and aviation aspirations to the realms of adventure tourism and music.

In the realm of adventure, Mike's endeavours have taken him from the depths of the Great Barrier Reef as a sailing and diving guide to the icy expanses of Antarctica, where he sailed the treacherous Drake Passage and rounded the infamous Cape Horn. He has surveyed narwhals on the remote Arctic shores of Baffin Island, guided polar bear safaris in the Hudson Bay region, and captained whale watching vessels off the coast of his island home. In his role as an Antarctic expedition leader, Mike continues to explore the far reaches of the planet, sharing his love for adventure and discovery with fellow enthusiasts.

In addition to his adventures, Mike has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Vancouver Island, having founded or played pivotal roles in creating and producing some of the region's most beloved festivals.

Despite his many endeavours, Mike remains rooted in his passion for music. As a musician and songwriter, he has graced stages at festivals and events throughout Western Canada, and continues to write and perform regularly.
